Large sandy beaches in the southern part , but with white pebbles in the north . The landscape is always exciting, with towering white hills covered with lush vegetation , with incredible vision.

Just 2 km from Iris, there are three beaches with crystal clear waters such as Spasmata, Megali Ammos and Eglina. Near
to the airport , these beaches are preferred by a lot of tourists. You can swim comfortably and relax in the sand with your children. These beaches are quiet and preferred by those who want to avoid the crowd.

 

 

 

IMG_6373Only 2 km far from IRIS you will notice Ammes. The beach is organized with lots of tourist activity which is preferred for swimming not only from tourists but also from locals. Ammes has shallow waters ideal for families with children. In the surrounding area you can find coffee, food, umbrellas and sunbeds.

 

 

 

makrisgialosWithin walking distance from the capital of Kefalonia lies the beach Makris Gialos (Long Beach). As the name states, it is truely a very long and sandy beach with no rocks or pebbles. The beach has a beach bar, restaurant and provides the opportunity for various water sport activities. As expected, Makris Gialos Beach is awarded each year with the blue flag of the National Tourist Organisation.. The natural extension of Makris Gialos is the Beach of Platis Gialos (Wide Beach).They are separated only by a few rocks. As a result it is possible to pass from one beach to another, by either walking or swimming.

IMG_0346_aixelisAnother great beach is Ai Helis beach. It is an organized long beach with umbrellas and sunbeds, located in the south of Kefalonia near Svoronata village. It is a sandy beach with a characteristic grayish color and shallow waters ideal for families.

 

 

 

 

IMG_0806_abithosNearby IRIS you can find the beach of Avithos, which is located close to the village of Kaligata and in a distance of 5 km from Minies. It is one of the most impressive and beautiful beaches of Kefalonia, with golden sand and crystal clear waters.

 

 

 

IMG_4793_mirtosHowever, the trademark of Kefalonia is Myrtos beach. .It is located in the northern part of Kefalonia about 30 km away from Argostoli. The landscape is simply unmatched. Green rocks that result in a quite long beach with white pebbles. The turquoise waters certainly with or without waves will make your swimming experience unforgettable and definitely will make you take many photos. It has been voted one of the best beaches in Greece and in the world. Every year Myrtos is being awarded from the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) with the blue flag. One of its main characteristics is that the water gets really deep just two steps from the sea shore. That is why the colour of the water is so impressive. Attention is also required as the currents can be very dangerous on certain days and the protective net should not be trespassed. Myrtos Beach is also well organized (canteen, umbrellas, sunbeds, lifeguard etc.).

antisamosThe island of Kefalonia attained special glamour and publicity because of the Hollywood production “Captain Corelli’s Mandolin”, starring Nicolas Cage, Penélope Cruz, Christian Bale and John Hurt, which was filmed in 2000 on the island. The beach that fascinated most viewers was none other than the beach of Antisamos. Antisamos Beach has been awarded with the blue flag. It’s a beach with small pebbles, located a few kilometers from the port of Sami.

 

You should also visit Skala and Lourdas beach. The long sandy beach attracts plenty of tourists and locals due to the exceptional location and the crystal clean waters. It’s in a privileged location with dense vegetation and fruitful land.

The Xi (or Ksi) Beach is a well­known and at the same time beautiful beach of Kefalonia, located near Lixouri. Xi Beach however has no steep cliffs or deep waters like most beaches in Kefalonia.Instead it’s very easy accessible, its water is very shallow and thus more than suitable for children.

The Petani Beach consists of fine white pebbles and crystal clear turquoise waters. If you can stay until late you will be awarded with a sunset amongst the mountains.

 

 

 

Agia Kiriaki KefaloniaJust 18km from Argostoli people approach the beach of Agia Kyriaki. You will find related signs to this beach either from the village Angon or the settlement Zola. The beach is sandy, with turquoise waters. Close to it you can find a canteen, some fish restaurants and other dining facilities. On the side of Agia Kyriaki Beach you will also find a small harbor with several local fishing boats and motorboats which you can rent for a nice sea ride.

 

Ifiskardof you visit Fiskardo, you can go to the cosmopolitan beach Emplisi and Dafnoudi. These small pebble beaches have no winds but deep water. Foki is another beach at Fiskardo, which is is mainly covered by big pebbles and rocks.
